I ran across this one today. My first thought was "yeah, good luck with that" until I double checked the "rare" 520-8 part. Turns out they only made like 255 of these (if you believe what you read on the internet)

1 runner that he "uses every weekend", 1 20hp hydro (model# not specified) that needs onan engine rebuilt

and 2 decks and push blade $1750. I can appreciate the rare part, if in fact it is a 1990 520-8, but not enough to pay double what it should be worth.

cut/paste from the ad:

I would like to trade my two wheel horse tractors for an atv or $1750 cash.
The wheelhorse tractors are both 20 horsepower Onans. One is an 8 speed manual, hi/lo with great tires, wheel weights, chains, a dozer or heavy duty snow blade, and a mowing deck. Starts and runs and drives great.
Other wheel horse is a hydrostatic and needs the motor rebuilt but it is all there. Also has a nice mowing deck.
Also comes with some boxes of nos and used parts. There is another mowing deck (not pictured) in very nice condition that goes with the tractors
I have been told that the 8 speed manual transmission model ( made in 1990 , a toro wheelhorse model 520-8 )is rare and quite valuable, I don't know but it is a fine machine and I use it every weekend.
Also have a bunch of manuals that go with the tractors

I'm not sure on the number made, but there were very few 520-8 made and are a great tractor. I always wanted one myself.

The 20hp Hydro about has to be a 520H or 520HD, unless it's the D-200 model. If I could see some photos I could tell you what you are looking at.

The Onan part makes me believe that it's a 520.

Just from what little research I did, they are a hybrid of the 416-8 and the 520H. Looks like they didnt sell too good. I had a 418-A and really like the hydro trans and the hydraulic lift. I cant imagine paying that much new for essentially a "base model" GT with a big engine and manual lift

They say the 520-8 is rare and only 225 made but either the folks that have em keep turning them over, there are more out there than 225 or folks are converting hydros to -8s for the anti hydro crowd.  I just think you see way to many of em for sale for only 225 to be made if you ask me.  Personally I wouldn't want one, rare or not Id rather the hydro model with the hyd lift especially if there is that 300+lb 60" deck under it or the 2 stage blower.  Im partial to the Kohler equipped machines and I really don't need more than 16HP anyways, besides seems those 520s have a bit of gold on em someplace for what is usually asked.

I like Onan's, but they are expensive to repair (if they can be fixed). I know as I have a JD 318, Ingersoll 3018  and a Case 448. These are all 18 horse engines, but should be similar. Buy low to offset engine costs.

I am guessing the non runner is the one on the right.

That lift handle (CRINGE) on the one in the foreground is a dead give away of a gear driver!
