Hey Guys,

Looking for a little guidance as I am not well versed in transmissions. I have a 1967 Speedex S18 that I am working on restoring and it needs some attention in the transmission. As i said, it is a peerless 2311 transmission and the input shaft had a lot of play. I figured out that it was the bearings that were bad on that. In the process of removing the hubs, i may have screwed something up. I had really use some force to get the hubs off and i think i broke those little rings on the axle you see in the picture. I downloaded manuals from here, but from those pictures, I can't really tell what broke. I think the gears and everything else looks ok though. Also, are parts still available for this? I need almost every oil seal and these mysterious rings, not to mention the bearings for the input shaft. Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate it.

Mike

I assume the ring your looking at is in picture 1? If so that looks to be a toasty thrust bearing :D

If you have part numbers I can see what is available,  There are lots of parts still available through peerless but I can also check for more affordable alternatives as well as I can deal direct for National/Timken seals and bearings which is usually alot cheaper than the peerless packaged parts.

Haha yes it is the broken rings in the top left of the first photo. I saw a similar piece on the axle in picture 2
