Years ago when I worked in the oil fields, we would put a diverted valve on our pickups power steering pump and run the line back to a hydraulic winch in the bed of the truck. These would lift 3500 lbs. I am sure some of you have seen the electric version of these in pickups. It never failed to lift the weight.

First I have heard of that!

Taps into your rig's power steering pump for longer, cooler and more reliable pulls than traditional electric winches http://www.autoanyth...0A2271A0A0.aspx

[quote name="Bmerf" post="549935" timestamp="1425487706"]Can you explain how to modify?[/quogte]
Pull out the high pressure fitting and it will have a funky fitting/ orifice looking piece. You can increase vol ume by simply drilling out these holes, but DONT MAKE THE TOO BIG or you will ruin it.to increase pressure you can either find a tougher spring, or add a few shims under one end, but again, more is not always better,as it could cause all kinds of failures, pump shaft, relief valve body, pump housing, hoses, and even kill your engine when something is applied.

We used to do this very thing when we would build ram assist steering on our rock crawler rigs. Works very well. We would also tap two ports into the steering gear box that would then be run to the ram.
