Day one is done. Was supposed to be done in one day but it dragged out forever. Right now everything is going great.

God's hand truly guided the lawyers to protect this little girl.

Next week is another day of court.

Thanks you guys.

As for them dragging it out its been going on for 14 months. Should of been done months ago. Thankfully we were able to stop her from being near him the entire time.

the only thing I learned from this process is that our legal system has nothing to do with protecting or helping. They just want to make money. Want to stop the visitation? Call a lawyer. Pay them. Then pay the court cost. Pay for the magistrate to look at the paper. Pay the courier to transfer the paper to the lawyers hand then pay the lawyer to read it. Oh minimum charge is 1 hour. Then their lawyer tries to stop it. Return to the top. They pay those charges. Then we turn around and pay them again to do the same process again.

We have spent in 14 months enough cash to buy a new truck.

Not meaning it isn't worth it to protect her it is sad because if someone had no money they would be out of luck.

Tomorrow morning we are all heading to an indoor water park resort in Columbus Ohio for some needed unwinding. My wife needs it and so do I.

I agree on the system's health.
Good friends tried to adopt, what should have been over in a year, took 4+ and more than they had left on their mortgage.
The CYS people had it in their heads that the best place for is kid was with his crack addicted, abusive mother in a "questionable" line of employment who seemed to have a new boyfriend every one to two hours. The system fought these good folks tooth and nail and did everything they could to mess up the works.

Come to find out, it was the CYS group trying to CYA. They had not responded to several lodged complaints about the kids welfare and "forgot" to do follow ups in the rare cases they did investigate.

I hope that the bad dream that has been this process is almost over and soon this will all be a distant, unpleasant memory.

Have a good time at the park.

Nothing much for me to add to what has already been said, except that all good wishes are going out to you from my corner of the world.

Relax the best you can right now and try to keep the wife's spirits up. Keep us informed and you have a lot of friends shoulders and ears here to vent on so use them.

I have observed and agree. Did they get to finish the adoption?

Yes, he is theirs. It has been a couple years and the family is still healing from that experience. Healing that would have been less to none and all over with by now without the CYS people who were involved.
That trauma was hard on that kid and hindered their ability to parent as they needed to. They are fixing it, but it will take time. Thankfully, he's only 10 now... They have some time yet.

In nearly 30 years of Law enforcement I've seen just about all of it. I never did like the " Family " court idea because of just that thing of stretching it out. I remember one case similar to your where the defendant after all was said and done and was sent to jail, was made to sell all of his things to pay " All " of the court costs on both sides as well as court costs and fines. If that were done on every case it would be so helpful for the families involved. Glad things are progressing and there soon will be, hopefully, a good outcome. Have fun at the park, relax, breath and try to forget for a while. Prayers still being said for the family.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Roger
