My son is giving a serious shot at rabbit husbandry, he wants to breed his own "pen of three" market rabbits for our county fair.

Here is his first successful litter out of this New Zealand doe, her second litter. We also lost 8 on Monday from a first time young doe, she had no idea what to do and it was very cold out.

Day one, born Feb 14. She had 8, 6 lived.

Last night, Feb 23, 10 days old. Should see some eyeballs soon.

My Dad raised rabbits way back when. Lots of things to watch out for with them.

Yea, but not too bad. We almost always lose a new doe's first litter, just our luck I guess. This doe lost her first, but was spot on this time, pulled plenty of fur, had them all in the box, etc. Not sure why she lost 2 of them, but these 6 are sure fat and healthy looking.

This is a trial run for fair rabbits. We will measured and chart their weights, then we will know exactly when to breed so they will be at proper weight for july fair. Hopefully the other does will kick babies out too so we have a good selection.

Not sure what we will do with these, sell, butcher, I dunno.

`My grandfather raised a lot of meat rabbits when I was younger.  I remember playing with the rabbits, then a week later we would have them for lunch.

My wife and daughter want to raise some rabbits, I told the little girl when she gets older and if she joins and sticks with 4H we will do rabbits and little goats.

We tried the "little goats",  they are more trouble than the big ones, always into something!  :D

I was playing with them up at a local farm.  Little SOBs are like a dog combined with a cat.  I'd sit down and the little guys would climb up on me and want petted.  They were funny!

Digital or analog rabbits? Digital one's ears can be used for antennas. Not sure they even breed analog ones anymore.

Your going to show the Grounds Keepers the pics? Are you hoping they will multiply?

I don't care, share away.

We bought 4 baby goats last week, and deposit on 2 more so in about 2 months after they are weaned, we will have 6 of those little ones running around..... oh the feed bill! :wallbanging:

And they will be all over everything! Forget a fence, they'll learn to climb that!
