Just came in from a couple hours in the shop....with an extra layer under the carhartts. Its -12 and I never saw anything over -2 today, despite it being a rare, sunny day. Has been subzero every morning for a week it seems. Doesnt bother me much as long as the wind is calm.

-20 tonite they say, but its dropping 2*/hour or faster, so I bet it goes colder than that.

Lake Michigan is making lots of ice now! Last year we had this kind of cold too, and record ice cover on the great lakes as a result, but it seems like a distant memory.

I have a friend that lives in south west Wyoming and he laughed at me because it was nearly 50* F there today. So he says............                                 Roger

He's probably right... SW Wyoming takes a chunk out of Northern Utah... If you go east-northeast out of Salt Lake, you'll run into Evanston--popular with Utahn's because of year-round firecracker sales and parimutuel betting on horse races...

We've been having Spring since December...
