heck around here that would be  " ok everyone of the bus and start shoveling !! "  I can remember having four or five shovels in the back of the bus and some pails full of sand for that exact situation when I was little. don't ever remember having to get out and use them but they were there.

We're the opposite down here.  If it is even cold (less than 25 seems about average) they will delay school two hours. If it even remotely threatens snow, they will delay or close.

Personally, I think they are afraid of lawsuits.

Very true Ben. I think you are right. That's what they do around here. Close things so no lawsuits. Noel

You guys know I'm not that old.

But I never remember school being cancelled for cold. The morning news always had a segment. Kids it's 5 below this morning wear layers!

I remember waiting for the bus wearing long Johns jeans wool socks sweat shirt coat gloves hat scarf. Then sitting at school all day sweating!

We had to have either a lot of ice or snow that started dumping late at night before the snow plows could come out. Even then it was delayed and usually we'd go anyway.

now it starts to flurry and they want to dismiss early!
