Looks like all you need is the extra piece on the end that attaches to the PTO idler pulley.
It almost looks like someone cut the shaft off on yours

Are those tensioner pulleys off of a car?

Alot of the garden tractors that were made for other garden tractor manufacturers had a slightly different setup when it came to Deck/attachment engaging.
It might of had some sort of contraption on the deck that disengaged the belt.So the PTO would spin all of the time.
Do you have the original deck or any other original attachment for it?

But I see it has the original PTO disengage leaver below the dash on the left.
I guess someone could of cut the shaft off, just after the Idler pulley.I've seen stranger things that people do.

Here's a complete shaft on Ebay fairly cheap. It should fit but I'm not 100% sure.
You'll have to ask someone with a 600 to see it they are the same length.

The Idler pulley in the picture definitely is not an original Bolens Pulley.

If you look in the one picture you can tell the PTO Idler was there at some point. The paint on the tube is worn off right where the Idler should be. Thats a sign the setup was intact not too long ago.
