So we (family) looked through of photos a Grandpa's this evening and I found a picture from 1988 when the pass me down lawn tractor I used as a kid... was brand new. It was a Mastercut 12/38, and I want one. I don't care if it runs, not even the deck, just has to be good drivetrain and steering, and sheet metal. I have very fond memories of shifting the fender shifter and steering it.

Maybe as a "kid" it just seemed bigger :poke:

Glad you had fond memories of your tractor and grandfather.

My father and husband have mowed our lawn with a Mastercut 12/38 with a Briggs and Stratton engine. The tractor has performed like a champ and still turns over. We used it last fall for mowing and yard clean up. It has a side discharge mowing deck, a twin bag "grass collector", and was purchased in 1989 at Agway. I'm not sure of the mower Model, but it was made by "AirCap" back then and my Dad's model/serial numbers handwritten on the Owner's Guide are 521/1205/F288L4. We are in upstate NY near Albany. The mower still runs but needs a muffler! We've serviced it all these years and hate to part with it....are you still interested?

Sounds like a great machine, but way too far for my interest.

Totally understandable....but when I saw the original post, I just had to respond. Maybe there will be somebody close to NY who is interested. Thanks!
