Wow, that one looks to have been freshened up recently. Is that a 46 deck on the side?

I think it is a 48", but I will have to check when I go outside later.  The deck is in rougher shape, lots of dings in it, could use some rehab....

Yep, it's 48". The early model 300 series decks were called a 46. 50's came later on the 18/22/32 models. After the production run, JD sold a replacement 48" deck, recognized by black plastic belt covers.

Video from the first snow trial.  6" or so of snow, half or less throttle.  still have to get used to it and learn the machine.

Looks like it is doing a great job, the 317is a good tractor, just the series 1 Kohler engine ruined it's reputation.

Yeah, that is what I heard...not to go with that model engine.  I made sure this was a series 2.

We are currently getting another unexpected squall dumping a few more inches, then I will get to blow it all again.

You want to blow snow and run the deck at WOT (wide open throttle).  The single stage 49 needs as much screw speed as possible to throw snow.
