What is the correct plow for my GT18?  Can't seem to figure it out for some reason...and I have a plow which I know is the wrong one :(

The plow that goes on the front of yours would probably be the one on my ST16 with the adapter.
About the time the ST series ended and the GT series began, they came up with a new mounting system. Kinda 2 hooks under the front. The plows for the GT series had an adapter available for the ST and SS series.

Here is a link to a pic of the plow as it is mounted on my 16

I can get a better pic of the mount if you need me to.

Does your tractor have the hooks under the front?

I thinking it would be more like this one from 1981 for his 1985 machine.

I think that those are interchangeable? I like that style you posted a little better for the way it tracks level to the ground better but the angle is supposedly easier on the one I posted.
I've never used the one you had a pic of, so not sure the differences for certain.

If I'm not mistaken (and I could be) all Suburban plows were the same.

I have not seen a plow like MH81 posted. Later model?

Should work fine. Just make sure to get as much of the parts and brackets as you can

The OP says this is a 1985 GT18. The correct blade for this would be either the 486.244021 or 486.244020 may work also. I have manuals I will upload a little later for these blades. For now here is a pic of the 486.244021 blade.

Thanks Kenny,

That is the machine.  I picked up a 486.24412 when I first got the tractor, and now that I am trying to attach I see there are subtle differences, like the front hitch plate, hanger plate and lift assembly.  I ordered some new hitch plates and hangar plates from Sears as they were available last night, I am hoping I can use the plow I have, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't way off, so thank you ALL as always for the help!!!

Sucks I learned it was the wrong plow so late...as in the day of the storm :)   Luckily, my franken ss12 is a beast of a machine and had no issues with the 12"+ snow drifts.  I think it deserves some love after its performance yesterday....

I'm not sure yet that the 486.244020 is the correct blade. The one I'm thinking of is the one I modified for my FF20. That is a 917.254020 blade.

I'm glad Sears still had the brackets, I need to see if they still have the brackets to mount the one I have to a GT18 like yours or my GT20.

The suburban plows will work '66-'79, but Sears did change and modify as the years progressed. The plow MH81 showed was a post '79 style, but can be used on older suburbans with said adapter.

Well, I am still ISO of a snow/dozer blade :(  I sold the one I had, and now I am thinking I should have kept it and tried to modify it.

Regardless, even though I bought the JD, I still want to see this old girl plow some snow!  SO...I continue my search for the right model plow number (whatever that might be :) ).
