Probably is if that is what the manual says.  My JD F525 has the motor and hydro as a single unit.  Change oil in the motor and I change everything.  It also call for 10W30 or 10W40 motor oil.

The 1855 has a hydro pump and automatic system, it should use an auto tranny fluid like Dextron.

Motor oil, ATF (either Dexron or Type F) and several other brands of hydraulic fluid are acceptable. It all depends on who printed the tractor manual and what the conditions are. Eaton made the hydro and they spec:

1. Premium hydraulic fluid

2. Engine crankcase oil

3. Automatic transmission oil

4. Hydraulic transmission oil
