I dropped in to a guys place who always had some old GTs kicking around and saw an old round fender Bolens but I don't recognize the model. It's definitely not a 600 or 800 and I thought they were the only round fenders. It's in a few pieces and he says he has the Kohler engine for it. He called it a 1964 or 65 shift-a-matic but I don't think that is correct. Any thoughts? Or is it just a bunch of miss matched parts. He wants 175 for it but I won't pay that much in that shape.

I think it has potential. Looks like the wiring was done away with for some reason but the rest looks like it is all there minus the belt covers. I definitely wouldn't pay the asking price. If it had everything and in that condition I could justify the asking price. We just got one not long ago except I think ours is a 61 Ride a Matic. I love the knuckle grill. I know some don't care for it.

Thanks guys. What are all the levers for. I assume the one under the seat is forward and reverse with 3 forward and 2 reverse. What about the other ones though?

Just going off memory when we got ours running and operated it for a little bit. The lever under the seat is deceiving. The slot all the way to the left is forward, just to the right of it is neutral. Than the slot all the way to the right is reverse and the one just to the left of it is neutral. The variable speed adjustment is the lever on the outside at the dash and the one closer to the dash is for the PTO.

Trent:

The Owner's Manual and Parts List for the Bolens 1962 Ride-A-Matic can be found here:

http://gardentractor...-matic-tractor/

You can compare the pictures to the actual tractor, to see what is missing.

Looks like all is in good shape, not rusted away. Thick paint saved it.  Little spray on str wheel should come off easy. Don't see engine there, but you said is around?  Those look plenty heavy metal and should take blasting and repair easy. Think price not too bad if you take time and tear all way down to redo.  Anything else there neat? Looks like quite a junk collection in background.

He has more stuff out back but i never got there yet. He has a case with a 48 inch tiller though so he told me. Not sure of the model. I actually stopped in because i knew a few years ago he had another older Bolens ride a matics with the round front on it. I was just checking to see if he still had it but its gone.
