I got a private message from a "member" regarding a person possibly having parts for the haban sickle mower I have. I used google to check the phone number and it showed up on another site as a possible scam....just want you all to be aware. I do not plan on contacting this person.  Maybe someone else has had experience with this person and can chime in either way. If I am wrong I will apologize, but I have a suspicion my gut instincts are correct.  Thanks   Scott

Below is the response I received from this member:

I think this is a scam too as he was selling a Bolens seat. He couldn't send me a photo of it and wanted $400. I have not followed this up.

Here's the PM I got as mentioned above. He also wanted payment by Western Union which in the UK we are told to be suspicious of. What a shame that our hobby is not free from these scams.

I hope this does not prove to be one of our members.  I would have a hard time believing that one of the people here would do this.  I have to believe that someone of questionable character got hold of this members information and is trying to pull one over on those who pursue.  I just refuse to believe that a member here would do this.  Either way, thanks for bringing it up.  Nothing good comes from keeping one's mouth shut about these things.

I don't think it's a true member- just a troll looking for opportunity. Alan is aware of the trolls name.

Once in a while a scam artist might get through but not for long.

I suppose by now that "member" is deleted and blocked.

I want to thank all the moderators of GTTalk for their efforts!    :watch_over_fence:

Going through the new members and weeding out the scam artists on a daily basis must get old,  but it sure makes for nutin' but great content when we pee-ons check in for our daily fix.

George may not lay out the big bucks on fancy clothing and a decent truck, but his site spam catching software is top notch. What the software doesn't catch, KennyP gets the other 90%. And then once in a while, like in this case, an actual person spends the time to register, post, get approved, and then starts shenanigans.

Starting a thread and alerting a mod with a PM immediately is truly good, right, and prudent. Kudos to the members.
