How rare is the front reel mower attachment ? It's a really cool design just one question is the drive shaft on a pto or does it run right off the motor

On the Bolens tube-frames, the front reel mower is shaft-driven from the tractor's PTO.    .....Front reel mower attachments were not as popular as mid-mount rotary mower decks, so they are not as common.

Reel mowers lost there popularity as rotary mowers developed.  ....For the average lawn, rotaries could cut some of the weeds which a reel mower would skip.  ....But for manicured lawns, a reel mower's cut could not be beat.

You don't see the reel mowers for sale often, they are one of the harder attachments to find,I would be curious to know what he thinks is a reasonable offer

The reason the bolens parts are high is because they dont make them anymore and if someone wants to restore one they will pay the big price for a steering wheel cap etc.

If you think the Bolens stuff is high, start playing with the Cub Cadet and John Deere's,you will get a real lesson, there are a few parts for Bolens that bring a good buck for sure, but nothing like there stuff in most cases

We have a reel mower attachment on the Bolens 800. I might contact the fellow and see what kind of offer he would take.

As many tractor shows and swap meets as I have been to in the last 12 years I wonder why you hardly ever see one, hundreds out there ?,been doing E-bay for 16 + years now and have only seen a half dozen maybe,if there were that many out there I think Wilberj would have found one at one of the biggest swap meets in the county(Portland,IN)IMO
