I'm not a complainer.  I'm usually an upbeat person who hates to fuss.

But I'm fussing tonight at something I can't fix.  Baby, its cold outside!

It is an official 8 degrees here in what is left of the sweet sunny South in the middle of the worst outbreak of global warming we have seen yet.  Those polar bears are really worried.

It was a high of 25 today with a nice icy wind.  Just regularly bone chilling.  Tonight the wind chill is supposed to make it feel like the negative digits.  Gee, just what I wanted.

No one is used to this out here.  Nothing with diesel fuel is in a good mood, and no one who has to run something with diesel fuel is in a better mood!   I had to go out and load a pallet with the skid steer, and even with winter fuel, it is wanting to gel up.  Anything that does not have a brand new battery is grumpy.

You guys who deal with this all the time... what can I say?  You are brave souls!

Ben W.

Ah, man. That's just cooling off... Let us know when it gets cold.
Nose hairs freezing in your nostril, ice water hurts your teeth because its to warm, if you plan on writing your name in a snow bank- you'd better tie a rope on the pencil kinda cold.

You can have it.   If Virginia gets like that, I'm going to Texas.

I just went out and dragged in a few armfuls of wood wearing my usual jeans and hoodie. Thought to myself wow that wind is hurting my face. Loaded up the wood stove and went upstairs to see how cold it was an it was 0 then the digital thermometer drop to -1

Where you at in North west pa? I lived in Dubois pa for a year and half in 2003 to 2004. That was the coldest and snowiest place I've ever been

Its right near zero in RI too. I'm not enjoying it, neither are the chickens or rabbits had set up a few more things to block this wind out not to long ago.

We are approaching 0.

At least you don't live near Will. Around -10 plus the wind chill.

I felt better today so I took the wife to her Dr. apt. and then on a little ride around town. I haven't been out for any time more than to go to the Dr. last week since Christmas. Then when I got home I got the plow truck out of the neighbors garage and plowed his and our drives. Nice sunny balmy bay here. Had about 4 " of snow to plow. Oh did I mention that it got down to -7* last night and it was a sunny balmy 4* while I was plowing.... I'm glad the old Ford  " Maroon Moose " has a good heater in it. When I was done my son came and picked me up. Door to dor warm service. I have friends and family that live in the warmer climate areas of the eastern US and they are saying it'd "durn cold there now.  Stay warm and stay safe.    This is just the beginning of winter for us. We will worry when it gets colder here.
