Just what I suspected the snap ring failed on my snowblower I have 2 other gear boxes so just swapped it out in the very very cold weather Now to clean out the grease and rebuild this Hopefully nothing was damaged

If any gouges were put into the gears when they ran amuck in there, you can grind the high spots down with a fine stone on a dremel or similar & they will run fine.

Get a load of this I tore it apart cleaned up everything and there is no snap ring I had this rebuilt with new bearings and seals last fall and the guy who built it must have forgot a snap ring that would be why it lasted ONLY A FEW MINUTES Anyhow im going to put it back together myself this time WITH THE SNAP RING!! DAM!!!!
