I went out to the barn over the weekend with all intentions of removing the battery from the Satoh for the winter.  This thing is very hard to start in cold weather so I usually take the battery out and put it in the basement for the winter to keep it warm.  It was pretty mild out do I plugged it in for a while and fired it up to charge the battery before taking it out.  I decided to take it for one last ride before winter sets in and set off thru the woods.  I noticed I had lost a few trees since I was last back there so I elected to keep the battery in and I had planned to drag the trees in after work today.  This is my plow tractor but it's also my firewood skidding machine.  The thing is a beast as anyone that has attended the Plow Days in Renfrew could tell you.  The trees were down over a steep hill but the ground froze pretty good overnight so I decided to try.  Took three chains to reach the tree but I took it out in 4 parts.  This tractor has a pretty low center of gravity and it just squats down and pulls these things up over the hill.  Thank goodness the brakes are great and it holds fine on the side of the hill.  Below are some shots back in the woods and the last one is half of the day's spoils.  After all the OT I've been working behind a computer, it sure felt good to get out there and skid some logs.

Glad to see you got out and did some work with it today.
We were supose to get snow starting about 2 o clock . It was around 0 but with no wind this morning around 9:30.
went out and warmed the Ford 1500 up, it starts best when ran every day. Put it back in the garage and the snow started about 1 pm.
We have about 6 inches on the ground now and no sign of letting up.
I will have to get up early and plow out the drive and lane so the wife can get to work.

We can't seem to buy any snow around here this year.  Here it is January and we haven't even had an inch.  It's going to be cold this week but what good is it without snow?

Hey, I've sat on that machine.
Looks like the Beav enjoyed stretching its legs some.
And it sounds like you could use doing it more often.

Yeah, you're right.  I wish I could get out there every day for at least a little bit.  Sometimes it's hard to get motivated but once I start, I hate to see the sun go down.  Nothing like being out in the woods with a good tractor and a good chainsaw.

I read the topic, and thought Ward Cleaver had joined. :D

That looks like a fun time Jeff. Frozen enough to keep most of the mud off.

That little diesel really seems to put out some torque.

Wow the Beav IS a beast! Looks like you live in a beautiful place. I meant to get the battery out of my MF12 today but I took advantage of getting some snow moved, which I have for sale cheap,---lol! Anyway right when I was wrapping up some of those outside chores since it was the first day above freezing for almost a month, here comes the blizzard AGAIN. Temp went from 38 to 24*F in a half hour and 30-40 mph wind. Battery is still in the 12 out in the shed. It's pretty old anyway, but hopefully I can get it soon!
