Jerome, that hood is totally unrelated to the brand we are discussing in this thread, because that is a Gilson hood, not a Quick MFG made Wards part. You should post that in the Classifieds and give it a week or 2.

Well I was thinking it was the same because it said garden mark on the hood.
I'll stick to Bolens lol

Montgomery Wards sold several brands under their Garden Mark series, and even at the same time. In the 1966 MW catalog I have they have a Gilson, a Quick MFG, and a Simplicity in their Garden Mark series paint.

JD212 can you please get a few detailed pictures of the tray the battery sits on under the hood. On my Mark 1o the P.O. had it in a wooden box on the frame just infront of the shifter. I realy dont want it that close to my daughter if anything goes wrong with it.

Looks like my 1964 garden mark 10..(I think it was 64) I thought it was made by Springfield. I know the 8 hp garden mark that year was by Simplicity. Cut grass for 39 yearswith it.
Tightening the mower blades kept ruining the blade spindles and cracking the housing at first. then they increased the flange on the spindles. I also cut a very thin nut to thread on first, then tighten the blade to the nut. Also drilled holes thru spindle and housing. insert pin punch, tighten blade.
I tossed the case front piece long ago. Now has a tecumseh engine. Still have original Kohller and starter etc.

You have an original 10 HP Kohler with starter for a Garden Mark 10 hp? (made by Springfield) If so and you want to part with it I am needing one for a Springfield version restoration project.

I like the look of that beast. What is the paint code on it? Also, any close ups of the battery relocation?

Looks like the right color, I will have to respray the top of my hood with it if it is close enough, as the top of my 7-1/4 hp's hood is worn down to the metal.
Could you get a few shots of what you actually bolted the battery tray to? I am curious as to how it is anchored.
