Was there lights on these tractors from the factory? mine has 2 holes on the first cross bar on the grill, if so any idea on what style?

I see the holes but they are not factory because I have seen several of those grills, have 2 in my shop, and none I have seen have headlights or those holes. I would bet someone had headlights on it at one point and they are gone.

Two weeks ago I bought a pile of original Springfield manuals and in them was a picture of the original slot hitch, and I just now reviewed the pics, and I have one thing to say, I am wrong, that slot hitch is 100% original and not a Wheel Horse slot hitch adaptation. I can not believe I made such a mistake in my identification, but once you have the correct paperwork you realize how stupid you (me) can be and wonder why. I will need to see that hitch up close for a couple weeks so I can duplicate it for myself since there is no way to get the correct dimensions/geometry otherwise. Mabey we can work out a meet somewhere sometime.

Also, another thing is do not let those cultivators get away because those are identical to the picture in the cultivator manual I have for Springfield cultivators. So those too belong to the tractor. Mabey we just need to trade tractors? haha

Thanks for the info, very cool I thought the hitch looked to be original but then I was second guessing myself.

That is exactly what happened to me. I second guessed my way into believing it was adapted, and now that I have the manual I know it to be authentic. Now I just need to have one in my hands long enough to duplicate it for myself cause I can't seem to find one.... And it is irritating because you got it on the correct tractor for less than I spend on just tractors, and to get the cultivator to boot, it can be very irritating to a guy that has over 10 Springfields and still no slot hitch. I play the odds and I would have thought by know I would have gotten one with as many Springfields as I have.....

I will help anyone who needs it. I just got back from a weekend trip so I am getting caught up. When you get some pics just make a new thread with them and I will find it.

Tough grill to find, heavy, and I have 2 in my camp, one on the Wards, one on the Toro. I like the cast iron grill and the one on the Toro is something I was planning to keep even though it isn't original for the Toro. I will have to think about it though. Any pics of your tractor?

heres a shot of it the day i brought it home
ive since made it mechanically sound
but i could not justify a cosmetic restoration without it being complete

Looks good. The tractor in my current avatar has the grill you need. It isn't original to it, and I have a grill that is supposed to go on it, but don't know that I want to switch em. I really like that cast iron grill.

Nice little compact Toro, but I am going to have to correct your history. Quick MFG never manufactured their tractors for Toro, but in August 1966 Toro purchased Quick MFG and then sold the same tractors under the Toro name. Basicly killed the Springfield name for theirs.

Also, If you want to make an offer on the grille do so in PM, and I will consider it.
