Just saw this article where Alcatel is going to offer smartphones that will run either Android, Windows phone, or Firefox OS.  I wasn't aware Firefox had an OS.  But I do like the idea you would have a choice as to which OS you want to run. Might eventually be able to dual boot.

Interesting, they are using a web interface, which makes sense since Mozilla is all about the web.  Years ago there was a big push for everything being done in the cloud and just using a web interface.  There was a big push back from those opposed to everything cloud but I think we are seeing the tip of the iceberg.  Chrome OS is web centric as well.

Like everything else it depends on what your needs are.  If the powers to be back then had their way you would now have a dumb terminal and everything you do would be off the net.  You would have a subscription where you basically rented what apps you needed and all your doc's would be stored on the net.  Your security would be in someone Else's hands.   As far as what FireFox and Google are doing I think it has it's advantages but I don't think it would be for everyone.  I think one big advantage would be each app would have a similar interface so you would interact with each app in the same way much like you do now with Firefox or Chrome.  Each website has it's own uniqueness but you still interact with all of them in the same basic way.
