I hope to be getting my LK soon. I want to replace the modern electric start mower with an age related engine. I have come across one which is a Briggs and Stratton 3hp engine which is NOS. The model no is 80202 0413-01 and the date no is 75022701. The engine was manufactured in 1975. I like its original patina and the labels on it and I think it would look right on the back of the LK. My question is is this a suitable engine for the LK? I know they ranged from 5 to 6 HP and that some examples have the Lauson and Techumesh engines and the earlier ones were B&S ones.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

That B&S 80202 is a horizontal-crankshaft model.     ....The Lawn Keepers used a vertical-crankshaft engine.

That engine is also low horsepower (approx. 3hp).
