Maybe the starter is slow.Betting it needs the Fuel pump rebuilt and carb cleaned.

I would get it if I had the money to spare.Just spent what little I had saved up for a rebuild kit for the old Custom 10.

I've been looking for 1 of these with a good deck and plow and Horizontal briggs. This is a mid 90's model and has a vertical shaft Briggs in it with electric PTO.

Not sure why an INDY special???  No race colors or stripes, bare basic machine with no special doo-dads! No number or date or anything. What's that about?  This almost looks like a Murray built, rather than the AYP (if that is correct) for those years? Neater yet if a Horizontal engine!

It is a AYP machine. Oddly though,I have never seen a Indy 500 edition that new. I have owned several and researched the Indy 500 edition tractors. The only ones I have known of to date were the slightly older grey or silver tractors. They had horizontal shaft engines. I have owned them with 18hp Briggs twins,20hp Kohler Magnum twins, and 20hp Onan twins. The Onan versions have electric lift. They were all GT's with 3 speed and hi/lo range. They have a plaque on the dash stating the tractor was used at the Indianapolis motor speedway. This tractor is slightly newer with a different ( less flat ) grill and headlight setup in front and a vertical shaft engine. The graphics are also different.

Looks like they made a Hydro version of this one to also with a vertical shaft Briggs twin.I think they sold these as a Limited edition series.Just stickers and a couple other "Special" things. Most likely they had a bunch of leftover parts at the end of the production year, tossed some different decals on it and called it "Limited Edition" "Indy 500".
