Yeah, Mainiacs do have an interesting accent, sort of a softer version of the Boston accent. People think all of us New Englanders talk like that but the vast majority have little or no accent.
Interesting show, but one episode was enough for me.
Maine was once upon a time part of Massachusetts. Of course that was a long time ago. As a native of Maine, I could always tell the difference between a Boston accent and a Maine accent. They are actually quite different. With the advent of radio and TV, regional accents are disappearing to a large extent because the talking heads sound like they are in the middle somewhere. We become what we hear.
I too watched the show one time. Too contrived for my taste. How about we all boycott these so-called "reality" shows?
