Onan 4041 power max simplicity points

I Bought a Simplicity Power Max in prity deasent condition.

But It Had No Manitainence what so ever done on it in the last 80Yr's ....

so all summer after replacing every thing like belts hoses reajusting & oil & Filters..

I DID NOT CHANGE THE POINTS OR CONDENCER NOW HERE WE ARE IN THE WINTER MO .

and i have to change the points but the push rod tht opens an closes the points dose not seem to go high enouf to open or reset the points .

Befor i yank the motor out of this thing to get at the advants unit becouse it some wair in there wair i cant see it any one work on the points an timing on on=e of these onan 19.5

ps iv tryed to get a brake down to see what is going to fall off in side the motor be for i remove the braker points box but not much out there

And nothing will or can fall inside the engine when removing the point's box.

Red tractor nut thank you .

i set up a bump button on the starter it just seems to me that the push rod dosent lift the points far enouf .

i was wondering if any one has delt with points on a ONan 19.5 CCKB iv down loaded several manuals & info about the points but every thing i have found is very vage .

reading in not my strongest point eather LOL

The points push pin would need to move a minimum of .020" to work the points.  The push pin rides directly against the end lobe on the camshaft, and this cam has been known to wear down to where it can't push the pin far enough.

O - - - - Crap guess i know whats next ..

yanking the motor out & looking for a cam shaft but would the end of this cam shaft be the advanced mec.that the points pusher rides on ?

There is no spark advance unit in these engines, the pin rides directly on the solid one-piece camshaft.

i think the tractor is worth putting some cash in to it has some hyd issues to when it gets warm & when its cold d=seeme to make a lot of hyd noise .. 

i gusse i should put a dile indacator on it & see what its doing thank you very much

i got it running again but its still not 100 %.

going to order new points & con 

see what happens.

im not liking the ramp on the cam seems likenits a open & shut deal
