Got the call at 2 AM this morning, my 93 year old mother had passed.  Not unexpected, but no more sleep this morning!  She had  health problems for more than a year & went to a nursing home for rehab the sumer before last.  She decided on her own she should stay there so we sold things she didn't need a year ago.  By her Drs. advice, she went on Hospice last summer & got along fairly well until a couple weeks ago when she started declining rapidly.

She had told us numerous times "I've had a good life" & told a Hospice nurse last week she was "ready to go".  My brother & his family saw her Tuesday and my wife & I and her two remaining sisters were there yesterday.

No more suffering for her!

Thanks for letting me vent!  ~~  Lowell

Sorry to hear of her passing, but glad she will no longer suffer.
It sounds as if she was thankful for the lifetime she had and was ready to go home.

A rough time of year for something like this, but at least you sound like you are at peace with it. My Wife's grandmother was the same way, she knew it was time to go and went peacefully.  I believe you kind of know when your journey here is over and it is your time to go. May your mother RIP Lowell.

Sorry to hear Lowell, but we all have that day coming, and now she has went to a better place, free of pain, free of all negative things.  And it's not venting....it's sharing of emotion.  We all need that.

As others have stated,  it's a loss, but also a blessing.  Your mom is celebrating Christmas with the birthday boy.  Merry Christmas !

Yes, there's no good time for this and this is the absolute worst time for the family. Over the years I've actually lost several relations or people I am close to on or around Christmas Day. It began with my favorite cousin Shen I was a kid. He was 27 and it was his daughters first Christmas. His wife called him down to open gifts. He said he would be right down. He just laid back down and died. That Christmas sucked. On the positive side, your mom is having the best Christmas she's ever experienced as has been said. As you gather with family today, share your favorite Christmas memories of mom. It may help you get through the holiday. May God comfort you and your family.

Sorry to hear of her passing Lowell. Take comfort t for her that she is no longer in pain. Over time the pain will lessen and the memories will take over.   Take care.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Roger

Sorry to hear of your loss. Sounds like she had a full life. Remember the good times and use that in the future. My mother passed on my birthday 12/20/11 and now every holiday I look to remember all the good things she brought to the holidays, instead of dwelling on the sorrow. Tom
