Agreed, I am glad this foolish holiday is over, way to much focus on the gift giving and not enough on the actual holiday.  I dread this holiday the most of all.  BAH!!! HUMBUG !!!!!!1

I would agree, the true meaning has been clouded. Almost every holiday has been by commercialism . IMO

If everyone who doesn't like it bows out, we 'll never change it (see my post about starting a new holiday; Tractormas.) On Tractormas there are no gifts, no costumes, no dumb songs ;just Southern Rock.

My bah humbugedness is tempered by a 4 year old. She was so excited and full of wonder, made me remember what it was like to be young.
We always talk about what happened over 2000 years ago on this blessed day. About what His arrival meant to the world.
The commercialization and the iwantthisandthat mentality can be lessened, my two teenagers appreciate the gifts they get and realize that's not all the day is about. The 4 yr old and I set out a plate of cookies and carrots with a glass of milk for the big guy and his team. We enjoy family, eat to much, remember the past & the loved ones that are no longer with us, and pay thanks for our blessings.

My 9 yr old woke us up this morning at 4:30 screaming about santa leaving presents under the tree.  she makes it fun for me but she has been a snot for the last few weeks.  this may be the last year for her believing in the great santa clause.  OH well life goes on.

We thought our 9 year old didn't believe anymore. She fell asleep at 8:30pm last night and we started setting everything up. She left out milk and cookies and fell asleep. Within an hour she woke up asking if Santa had came. She needed to got to the bathroom and we hurried up and hid everything. She finally fell asleep again at 11:30 and we set everything up again. She woke up a couple times through the night anxiously awaiting opening presents. I think it might be the last year for us.
