Have they separated the user data from the OS in separate partitions?

Nope, still all on the same C: partition.

you would be surprised how much windows uses Unix (Linux) programs (codes)

they have been copying Unix back in the DOS days

Unix used x-windows long before Microsoft made Windows

Unix has been around years before DOS

Unix was make by AT&T

I use a laptop with Win 7 on it, Surf a few boards etc.  When Windows 8 came out Microsoft did me a favor, I started buying Android devices. So far I have been much happier, don't miss the reloading of the operating system, occasional reboot just to get it to work, not communicating to my printer, outdated interface, memory hog,  Well I guess there isn't room here to list all the things I Don't miss with Windows.  Although at this point I think Win 7 is a fairly stable platform.

Will I ever update to Win 8 or 10, Highly unlikely for me although I might consider an Apple system.

As I become more familiar with Android the more I like it.

I think in the not to distinct future desktops and maybe even laptops will become a thing of the past.  IOS and Android will be the main OS and maybe another OS that hasn't hit the streets yet.

M$ and Ubuntu are trying to take a desktop OS and make it into both a mobile and desktop OS.  Personally I don't think either will be very good because of the differences between the devices.  Our son just uses his phone for all his computing needs and if he does need a desktop he just comes over here and uses one of ours.  But that is not very often.  Of course his newest phone is more like a small tablet and I would not want to have to carry it around all day. :wallbanging:
