When I got home from buying some cows today, my computer was infected with this virus. Takes over the browser more or less.  I found the files in Chrome files & removed, but it's still here.  Running AVG now to see if it will get it.  Microsoft Essentials didn't find it at all.  :wallbanging:  :wallbanging:  :wallbanging:  :wallbanging:

Daniel,

You may have to go in to the settings for chrome and choose to reset. Bad thing is you will loose any saved passwords and cookies. After you get it cleaned up you should change your passwords for websites you visit especially if you do any banking online.

I had something that hijacked my chrome browser.May have been two different ones.I had a small popup on every window for coupons and I did get rid of it.I also had a redirect every time I clicked on something on my browser.I tried two different antivirus programs and several malware programs and I was never able to remove it so I am running Firefox.

What if you have Chrome on several computers and reset on one computer. Can you import settings from another computer after the reset?

You could. The other thing too is if you have google setup to sync across multiple computers. If you reset it and then log back in it should sync everything.

My computer is sure screwed up.  If I'm off for a while, I'm having extreme difficulties.

Daniel,

Hopefully you get this before you go offline but if you have a second account on the pc use that to scan the computer with. If you don't have a second account try booting into safe mode by hitting the F8 key right after the bios screen but before windows starts booting. It is a real short window. Create a second account with admin privileges and scan from this account. You may have to reboot in to normal mode to run any scans. You can also try scanning with malwarebytes and also give avast a try.

I used to recommend microsoft security essentials but I haven't been too crazy with their protection lately.

From the second account you can also do a system restore to get to a previous point before you got the virus.

Definitely try and create a second account and log in to the computer under that one. Hopefully it is just user based malware.

AVG has found 9 threats, but until it's finished, I can't see what they are.
