When cables snap they are like a whip. I saw a guy get a leg broke one day when one broke on him. After that they built a cage where he stood to operate it. In this case it may have taken his head off if it snapped under tension.

I know a tow truck guy that lays a heavy tarp over the cable when winching some thing out of the mud,Said it helps take out the whip should it snap. But for sure these two guys are doing a lot wrong.

I can see at least on hospital visit in future with that family, if it hasn't happen multiple times already, they are probably on a first name basis with the staff.

They got the job done and no one died.

I had my doubts on both points throughout the whole video.

I agree with both.

I've seen and probably done dumber things.

We had a local boy die a few years ago when a mud truck got stuck and a they were pulling it out. The rope didn't break but the anchor point on the pulling rope broke and a piece of the bumper and the hook went through the back window and took his head off his shoulders.

Young boy 20 years old. Very sad.

What is also sad is people can't enjoy a day of mud truck running and atv riding without getting blitz drunk

That reminds me of the half-***ed trailers some guys show up to the auctions around here with, as a side note, when I lived in PA the neighbor pulled a steel 2horse trailer with a ford windstar for years, but they had a properly rated hitch and brake controller.
