20141203_133419.jpg  I can sure use some help, I'm new to this, and have read about a lot, but nothing is better than hands on experience. Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure what version mower this is. I looked at the manuals on line here and none seemed to match what I have. It has the Bush Hog Name on the front of the discharge shoot. The more I look at the deck looks like some one may have modified the deck as the welds seem a little rough.

Welcome to GT Talk. I can't tell you much about your deck but I am sure one of the guys that can will
be along soon. Do you have a Bush Hog tractor to go with that deck?

Jack..

Looks like a heavily modded Bush Hog M-42 deck.  Lots of major alterations.

It is an early version (most likely the first version) M-42 deck. I know there were at least two versions of this deck, maybe 3. I have four different manuals (revisions) for the M-42, The BH that was up for sale in RI a couple of weeks ago had the same deck. See the picture below. The one in this picture with the pulley covers Is the second version. The first version did not have the pulley covers.

Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. The color manual cover I believe is the first version.

Thanks to Scott's huge store of manuals & info, I've been corrected.  Never seen an early deck before.  Odd though how it would appear a normal deck under the front chute top sections that were scabbed onto the top front.

Daniel I had never seen an early version deck, till that one in RI. I too thought it was not correct, but went back in my binders and found the early version manual.

Thanks for the info. It does look like the color photo. Would be interested in a copy of a manual for it. From the other post it sounds like your the one to have it.

Thanks!

Hi Jack, Sorry about not responding back to your question. Yes I do have a D4-7 w/ a snow thrower. There is a short bio and photo on the ser.# reg. page.

Mipago No problem I figured you would get around to it sometime. I to have a D4-7. Mine has a deck
with just one large blade under it. I am not sure what size it is. I have never used it. I don't
think it has all the right parts to properly operate it but it is on there. Nice to have another
Bush-Hog guy on the forum.
