I found a tractor for sale that seems like a good price but the seller says that the starter and magneto need to be replaced but I've never done it before. Any info on parts price / where to get them and what this involves would be much appreciated.

thanks

here is the ad

1991 Toro Wheelhorse 212-5 tractor with 38" deck. Needs starter and magneto, otherwise ran great. Smooth, smooth idle, oil changed last month. Strong 12.5 engine and tractor in great shape for year. Comes with twin bin bagger. Selling for repair, parts, or restore. They don't make them like this anymore. $50 cash takes it. No scammers and if this ad is up, it's still available.

I can't see both being bad but for $50 I don't think you will get hurt

There was an option for Kawasaki, Briggs, or Onan on that tractor.

The starter motors are available for all three.  Let me take a shot at it if you need one.  Prices can vary between suppliers.  I'll cheat you right.  :smilewink:

By magneto he probably means the coil is toast.  They should be available for the Kawa and Briggs.  I'd have to research the Onan, I've never messed around with a single cylinder vertical Onan.
