It is sad to hear that sales on Thanksgiving day are way up! Thanksgiving is for family and Black Friday is for shopping if you wish. This is very disappointing and the media is pushing it real hard. I would rather hear the media denounce Thanksgiving shopping and push stores to stay closed. JMHO!!

Yes all stores should be closed on the holidays.

I'm just a few minutes west of you, Geno, and I totally agree! We were coming home Thursday night, around 9:30. Came over a hill, and could see traffic lined up for at least a mile ahead. I'm figuring there was an accident, but then noticed that traffic was as heavy going the other direction. Just shoppers heading to and from stores. I think the media should give some praise to stores that close on holidays.

Agreed. Holidays used to be for families and now they lean toward shopping.

As a kid in the 50s and 60s I can remember my dad having to get gas before the holidays so he would have enough in case he was called out for a service call. (HVAC Serviceman) because all the gas stations were closed on holidays. I agree Holidays are for family and should return to that. On a side note, after seeing the violence from this years " Black Friday " sales event I am glad that I don't partake and never have.  JM2CW.   Hope it was a great holiday for all of you.

Roger.

I heard the same from relatives yesterday. The ones that ventured out on Friday morn asked employees how it was, and most responded Thursday night was nuts, Friday was slightly busier than an average day.

Kind of sickening, imo.
