Dropped off the carburetor to be put in the ultra sonic cleaner yesterday. I picked it up this morning and reassembled carb.Mounted carb, replaced battery. The one I was using to try and get it running was shot. Got everything put back together and tried to get it running. It fired up pretty well and actually ran half decent. It did smoke at first which is no surprise. It has been sitting for a while. After I had it running for a while I took it for a drive. The variable speed will need some adjustment. All the gears worked fine with no noise in transition.

2 Sundays ago I pulled the throttle cable out to take apart and free up.I pulled the cable out of the sheath and sanded the rust off with sand paper.I put the cable back in the sheath and as I fed it in I had some grease on my fingers that I put on cable for lubrication.Put cable back in tractor and got it set to where it operates throttle the full length of travel.Yesterday I put the hood supports back on,the grill, and the hood. Then I fired it up and drove it around for 10 minutes. The variable seems to be fine with the operational throttle. When I put it away it didn't seem to be smoking any more. We'll see next time I start it.It runs great.I'll get some more pictures this weekend.

It is amazing what the ultrasonic carb machines do for these old machines.

Sounds like you got it working like it should be!  Good job!
