I helped the neighbor spend $5K today!!

I'm so proud!!  He made the mistake of asking me what tractor to buy late this fall!  He gave me a JD dealer's flyer about fall specials and I looked through the options and decided on 'none of the above'!   :(

SOOO  Since then I've been scanning C/L and sending him ads for tractors..  I found a sweet JD 455 AWS with under 1K hours and he called the guy last week.  So we took a road trip over hill and dale into the heart of Finger Lakes country here and took a peak at what he had..  He wanted a good chunk of change for a 18 YO tractor and a luck would have it, he also had an X 540 in his garage so we could compare the two..  I showed him the difference between the frame and trannys and the shaft drive tranny and implements versus the belt drive crap on the newer model which the guy wanted another $1400 for!

The best part was the fact that he was getting the 455 with an almost brand new 54" deck!  They hammered out a deal and got to $5300 delivered next week!!  His wife seemed pleased that I helped him empty out her checking account!  (One in a million there!)

I can't wait to borrow the thing and raise hell with it!   :rocker2:   :worshippy1:

My first choice. If someone told me I could have any used gt I wanted, it would be a '97 or earlier 455 aws with the 60 deck.

Sneak any pics?

That can't be the right seat for that tractor. Is it? Looks a little small to me... Tractor looks like it's in perfect shape.
Those pictures showing off the four wheel steer make me jealous!

That Troy Bilt wb has got to go. He should be able to trade it in on a 47 blower for not too much out of pocket. As long as he considers half of what he spent on the tractor 'not too much'.
