I picked this up today. It isn't the model I have but the parts I need are the same. Battery cover, lower hood piece, seat, and tires are in great shape. The motor is a Briggs , not sure if it's original , don't even know if it turns over.
I'm not sure which model or year it is but the confusing thing is the stamped steel footrests that work like the older cast ones. Mine are stationary. Maybe it's the year things started to change over.

Sorry ,I'll post more pics tomorrow. Long drive today
One other thing might be on the older model, a hand brake behind the axle.

Never seen one with a handbrake? Usually they have the clutch / brake pedal. Neat little tractor

Looks to be a first cousin to a MF Executive.  Rick

Dura (parent of moto-mower) made the MF Execs.  The hoods are different.

Does the motor appear to be original?  Date code in the picture starts with (19)65.

It is possible that it is a combination of parts from multiple years - earlier tractor with later foot pedal.

If it's a combination of parts, that may be a good thing if you plan to use it for parts.  You aren't breaking down a good one.

I've seen the hand brake on earlier moto-mowers.  Mine have a "J" hook that holds the clutch/brake lever.  The "J" hook wouldn't work for the ones with the moving pedals.

That's an interesting find Tom. Is there a ID tag on it somewhere? Behind

the dash maybe.

In terms of being a cousin to the MF Execs, it's quite a combination of parts.

Here's what I can spot. In comparison to Exec parts.

Steering wheel 1963

Seat 63

Deck 63

Rear parking brake handle 63 & 64

Hood latches on sides 63

Ignition switch in bat cover 63

Flat drive belt tensioner above belt 63

Front axle and steering arms 63

Sheet metal over frame has cut outs on sides for lift lever 64 & 65

Checker plate foot rest/pedal 65

Hood has cut outs on sides, with ridges above 65

Interesting.

Throttle and choke in dash 64 & 65

will,

I agree the grill looks like 1963 moto-mower.  Shortly after the transition from Porter-Cable.

I'm not sure the steering wheel is as limited range.  The cast aluminum steering wheel was on later models.  I believe this one is a 1966 (based on the code on the motor).  Is there a change in shapes?

So far, the more I've learned about moto-mower, the more I'm guessing the factory did a bit of "this and that" using parts that were on the floor.

Hi Dwayne.

All those dates and parts I listed above refer to MF Execs. As in, on the execs, that

aluminum steering wheel was only used in 1963.

In your researching of Moto-Mower, has the name Johnny Cash come up at all? :smilewink:

Will - good one on the video/song - a classic.

It seems like the 1960s was the heyday of lunchbox wholesale.

Maybe this one is a rare factory original. ;)

Yeah it would be cool to redo it. Someday would like to find one to add with the porter cables its neat how the design evolved

yes ,this is for parts to complete my 8hp model. the engine is what intrigued me, briggs ? and the 2 pc hood/ grill area. that  bottom half should fit mine with the cast top piece.
