I have both a 14 and a 16 that have hoods in dire need of repairs. I'm gonna try my hand at one. The thing that worries me is getting the headlight panel back in the right spot for the bezel to bolt on correctly. Can someone post a pic of a good hood with a tape measure from the face of the headlight panel to the edge of the metal so I know where to attach things back in correctly? Thanks.

Do you mean the flat panel with the 2 holes for the lights? It must be smashed up pretty bad if that's come apart. I have an 8 hood that I can take photos of. It's all assembled with headlights installed. I just haven't put it back on the tractor. Do you know if the 8 hood is the same as the 14,16? The width may be the same but I'm pretty sure it's shorter.

Yes, one is almost tore in half and the other has the top 2 welds broke. They need straightened and reinforced. I just want to make sure they are lined up correctly after repairs. If the 8 takes the same bezel then it would work. Thanks.

Oh man, I was going to measure one today, but forgot. (age===darn)

They do take the same bezel, so if Brian has one handy, that would give you

the measurement you need. I'm writing myself a note right now, and will measure

a 14 hood tomorrow, just in case.

I checked 3 different ones. They're all a bit bent, but on the sides where

the headlight plate is spot welded to the hood I get the same measurement

of 7/16" from the headlight plate to the edge of the hood. The crease for the bottom

lip that the hinge bolts to, appears to be in line with the front edge of the hood at the bottom.

Do you have the bezel? If so, you could make sure of the location by just putting it in place and

scribing the inside of the hood.

Hope this helps.

I have one good bezel that I can use but that measurement gives me something to look for. The hood on the 16 is almost off. It also doesn't line up right with the dash because of the hinge and headlight panel being bent and weak. You can't open the hood and leave it up. The cable is in place but the headlight panel is tore to where it will not support the hood anymore. Thanks again.

I've been busy and didin't get the pictures yet. Mine was bent when I got it. I would straighten out the front hood baffle( the piece that the bezel bolts too), bolt your good bezel to it and tape the assembly to the hood. That should get you where you need to be. Are the 2 metal clips still on the underside of the hood.

Just took some shots but I'm not sure they will help. Hood is assembled with insulation etc. In the first picture 3rd row down you can see the 2 metal clips I'm talking about. My hood was bent a bit and I didn't end up with a perfect fit  between the shape of the hood and the bezel. If you are able to mount the bezel to a baffle then fit that to the hood you should end up with a really close fit.

I said this in my post above:

 The crease for the bottom

lip that the hinge bolts to, appears to be in line with the front edge of the hood at the bottom.

Scrap that. I took a better look at my pictures after seeing Brian's. If it gets welded in that way, the

headlights will be aimed at the neighbours upstairs bedroom windows, and you'll probably get a visit

from the police for peeping.
