Should I oil or grease pivot points that are open to dust and dirt, or is it better to not apply any lubricant (since oil or grease usually attracts dust and dirt)?

If you attach a zerk regular greasing will keep dirt out.

The owners manual will usually tell you how to lube these pivot points.

Thanks guys. These are the kind of pivot points I was talking about (ones that don't have grease fittings).

I'm in agreement here. They usually say lube with oil in those areas.
