Sears Custom 10E

Went to look at this little fella today and if everything works out I'll have it here Saturday afternoon.

The thing is I had a 68 Custom 10XL with it had the 4 speed in it and a old 8E with the 6 speed but this one is a bit different.Rear fenders look to be Older Pre 68? and the Grill is 68-72? and the Engine is Ring gear start and original Orange paint so 71-72?

I'm pretty sure the tractor is 100% original.I went over it pretty good. The deck is in very nice condition and the Plow looks like it may have only been used a hand full of times.

Anyone ever seen a 10E before?Or any Custom 10 with the square fenders and ring gear electric start?

I'm going to clean it up a bit and install Headlights.Someone put 2 plates over the headlight holes and the hood has a good bit of Pine pitch on it.In the pics it looks like someone Spray bombed the hood but it's just pine pitch. He has the original Seat and seat spring for on it.I will be reinstalling it if it comes home with me Saturday.

I have a Custom 8 E sitting in storage and it has the round fenders also. It looks like it might have older Suburban fenders on it Possibly 1964,?? Nice looking GT though.

Roger.

The fenders depended on the model. Check out the tractor ID page on this site. http://vintagesearsg...tification.html

Ya I checked there but no mention of a 10E.

I went and looked at the tractor today and as far as I can tell the Rear fenders are original to the tractor and this tractor was not repainted.I'll get some good Pics of it if I manage to get it Saturday.

I bought the 3 point off of this tractor a couple years ago.It still had the Orange Rubber handle and the leaver extension on it.The rest of the tractor Just became for sale a couple days ago so I'm jumping on it.

The 1970 and 71 Sears Compact 7 had the same grill and rear fender Combo.

I noticed that the Compact's were the only ones with that fender combo in later years. I am curious to see closer pictures the tractor.

Rain-X will do a good job removing pine tar.

UPDATE UPDATE!!!

I GOT IT I GOT IT!!!

Happy happy joy! joy! Happy Happy Joy! Joy! :rolling:

Hey this thing runs GOOD.It's really dirty but I started it up and ran it around for a good hour.Had to test the deck out :rolling: It mulches leaves up really good.

Found out some info on the 10E.It was only made and Sold in Late 1972 as the Last of the Sears Custom line before the New ST series came out in mid 1973.So this one is actually a couple months newer than the 1972 Sears Custom 10XL.The rear fenders are Original for this tractor.I've found 3 other Custom 10E tractors on the Web and they all had the same fender and grill combo.

Anywho here ya go a big Bunch of fresh pics :rocker2:  :worshippy1:

See the Skids on the Plow? Cutting edge is missing 1 bolt but no visible wear on it either.

And the Shoot extension belt guard and plow support rods.

I paid a good bit for it but I'm very very happy with it.

He says he has the Snow Blower pulley for on it,if he can find it he'll drop it off.He lives 6 miles from me.Says he took the pulley off the engine when he put the new deck belt on and just never put it back on.

The deck and Plow will get repainted but I think the tractor will clean up good enough with a bit of Purple Power and a nice coat of Wax lol.

The seat cover is coming off tomorrow. The PO put a chunk of foam under it and it just looks bad but it's pretty comfy. So seat cover Off and take extra foam out and pop the cover back on.

I'm also going to pop the headlight Blanks out and install a set of headlights. The charging system seems to work good so I think it will be ok.I have to find a place to put a switch without drilling a hole in the dash for the lights.Haven't looked to see if there's a knockout plug for a switch yet.
