When my daughter was 14 I told her that when she turned 16 she could have my 1970 fully restored Road Runner. She said dad I don't want it I want you your 4 wheel drive dodge pickup. Wow ok. So I told my 10 year old son that when he turned 16 he could have it and we would do anything he wanted to do to it. (within reason). You know have good father son time together. That day never came for us, he was killed 6 months later in a 4 wheeler/auto accident. I never got the father son time with him like I planned on, like I needed. So I got rid of the car and haven't looked at one since. That is not until my future son in law asked me to help on his overhaul. His dad never did anything with him growing up and I didn't get to either with my son. So I was good for both. When they get married in May next year I will be damn proud to call him my (son) in law. Not a day goes by I don't think of my son but now Kyle has help me more than he will ever know. I have attached 2 poems I wrote 13 years ago. Hope y'all don't mind. Willie

Thank you Willie for sharing a very personal remembrance of your son. Maybe the (Son) in law has been placed in your life to take away some of that pain and loss you have felt. Maybe you have been placed Kyle's  life to help him recover from some of that which he had not experienced in his life growing up. Dakota would be proud of you for helping Kyle and maybe just maybe Dakota is watching over you more that you know. May God Bless You and Your Family. Congratulations to your daughter and son in law.

I am sure Kyle was sent to us to help us heal and move forward, and I know Dakota would love him just as we do.

Willie, we don't mind at all.  I am very sorry for the loss.

I know Kyle will be a much better man after having that time with you.  It isn't many young men who get that chance after the lost it as a child.  You're a good man to invest that in him.

Things happen for a reason, my grandfather used to say.  It sounds like you and Kyle have been brought together for the reason so both of you can heal.  I'm sorry to hear about your loss but then on the other hand it is good Kyle has come into your life.  I hope all of you can heal now.
