I am picking this one up at the end of the month. The main reason I am buying it is because of the Roto-spade. The front blade and three point hitch helped some too.

I ended up selling my 1993 GT6000 with most of attachments to a guy who wanted to get it a lot more than I wanted to keep it.

Great looking tractor ya got there, Gtractor! The sickle bar is a cool and very rare attachment for the Sears.

Glad you got the SS16 up and running, ratnestss16. Thanks for the photo!

I've owned a couple of Sears tractors, but I don't have one now. My first was a ST10, my favorite was a '71 SS12. A photo of that tractor is what I have been using lately for my avitar.

All you folks are making me jealous. I need another SS!

GTTinkerer, nice, that is IMO the best year of the SS/16. It is a 1975, last year of the fiberglass dash, first year of the larger plastic gas tank and HD hubs on the transaxle.

Poncho, that is a 1976, the last year of the SS and ST tractors before the transition to the 16/6, 18/6, etc.

Ratnestss16, you have a 1975 as well. Fiberglass dash and plastic gas tank is 1975 only, looks nice.

Hugh,
Thanks for the information. The tractor was listed on the classifieds from the old site for quite awhile for a decent price but since it was in Pennsylvania I was hesitant about talking to the owner about it. Once I did I found out he was going to Iowa at the end of the month so I will meet him in South Bend Indiana which is only 500 miles round trip instead of 1400 miles. Plus I get to stop by and see my Mother and Brother in Kalamazoo.

Just goes to show that it doesn't hurt to ask and offer.

I had one that I sold this spring. Was 69 SS12 painted up as Minnie Mo colors of course! Sold it to a woman who is secretary for local tractor club.
