I just fired up a new laptop, and am have a few frustrations with it.

How do I make it remember my username and passwords to the sites I frequent?

How do I increase the width of the scroll bar on the right?

How do I make those dumb slide out "Charms" stop from appearing?

Also, it won't let me "add to favorites", when I find a site I want to bookmark?

Thanks for any help.

I'll probably have more ?s

Would think it came with instructions? or place to go to for help?  On-line or Frequently asked questions kind of stuff?  No puter Guru here, but maybe you need a Grandson or other young neighbor to help?  I'm sure you can do all that stuff, just have to learn diff ways of new "improved" system.  Maybe there's one of those "Dummy's" books out there for Windows 8?  You have to use touch screen action for those don't ya?  My arm would go bad with constant move up/down  to run that if so.  OR, do they still have mouse option if you wish?

Grumpy, I did spend some time searching the help info, and online.

It's just so damn confusing, and they keep throwing new terms into

the mix. Thanks for the tip on getting a grandson to help, but I'm not

that lucky yet. Maybe I'll go hang out in the highschool parking lot.

I'm using a mouse. Can't stand all that finger waving.

Alan, I knew that. Hats off to you for sticking with Dos 3.0.

I wanted to as well, but the account forced me to upgrade, when

Bill Gates said we all should, back during the Y2K apocalypse.

I was so happy to help his bottom line. :mad2:

I think I might take another look at chrome. I played with it a bit last year, and liked it.

I've been solely using Chrome over a year now, maybe 2.  I loved Firefox till it started constantly giving problems.  IE is way too open for attacks.  Not used it in years.

Will, with IE open, slide your cursor to the lower right of the screen to get the pop up options. Select 'Settings'. Then 'options', then 'passwords'.

If you don't have an Options tab, select Control Panel, then User Accounts and Family Safety, then on the left side select Network and Internet, then choose Internet options, 'Manage Browser Add-ons. In the pop up box header titled 'Internet Properties, choose , 'Content'. Then click on the 'Settings' tab next to 'Autocomplete'. In the Autocomplete pop-up, choose 'Manage Passwords' or check the two boxes above it.

Easy, huh?

I'm outta breath. I'm going for a cig and cracking a Heine. Call me if you still have issues.

Ya, you might wanna re-think that. That could turn out bad. As my daughter says, stalker-creepy bad. But if ya gotta do it, use the white company van.

Thanks Scott. Sounds so simple :rolling:  :rolling:

They sure don't make it easy. I'll give it a try later. Knowing MS, I'll probably need my credit card

to make the changes.
