I am restoring a 129. I purchased a new belt for the starter generator (3/8 x 32") and I have to roll it on over the basket and generator pulleys. There is no slack, the generator is up against the block. This just does not seem right? Am I wrong? I have thought about getting a bit longer belt. Help

Cub manual says 3/8" x 31"

What size pulley is on the Starter Generator?

Someone may have put the wrong tensioner bracket on it.Had that happen on a Case 210.I ordered a stock size belt and in this case it was to Big.Someone put a shorter tensioner bracket on it.

Here's a pic of my 129 for reference.I need to get a new belt for it to very soon.you can see it's Almost out of room on the adjuster.

If anyone has an oem original belt to interchange maybe I could help.

Normally the starter belts are cogged or have a deep groove to grip the pulleys better, the one in the pic above looks like a regular v belt and rides too deep in the pulley.

Na it's a Deep groove belt.It may be the original belt it's worn very badly. It's V goes the whole way to the bottom of the pulley and is worn to a Point. But still starts the tractor fine Doesn't slip either lol.I'm pretty sure I'll be replacing it if I can't sell the tractor soon.

Winter is coming Fast.If I can't sell it soon I'm gona get it ready for Snow duty.

Thanks for the replies. I have measured the belt twice and it is 32" long. The pulley on the generator is 3". I guess at this point I will just get a longer belt. I also picked up a free cub cadet 2146 with 286 hours on it. Anyone have some insight into this machine? Thanks!
