I tried posting this on a different thread with no luck. So, I will try my own thread. Just found out my BIL has a 70's MW 10hp with a 38'' deck. Things looks pristine. Any idea what those are worth? If they are decent machines? It looks kinda light duty for the day but it is truly almost perfect condition. I didn't get a model number or anything. I just got curious when I saw it tonight.

That is hard to put a worth to. With it being lighter duty but in pristine shape. Does the owner seem willing to negotiate?

If you are the buyer, $0.00 If you're the seller $500.00

I'd say if you want it, it would make a good conversation starter at the tractor shows. Especially if it's in original, use-able condition.
It seems more & more people every year seem drawn to the ones with the "Patina" of just coming in from working.

It's my brother in law. And he said I could probably have it as long as it isn't worth a lot. I kinda like it but it would just be for fun. I don't need it. I thought I might even modify it a bit. That is why I ask the value. Should I leave it original?

I don't think it's worth much in the grand scheme of things. If it's a runner & it mows maybe $25-100 depending on condition. I'm sure there is a LT collector out there that would love to have it & weep that you modified it, but that's what we all do when it's a GT... LT units, not so much. Saw an older LT a while ago on CL that the guy said it ran and cut, just needs belts. He wanted "$25 obo ". I've also seen newer style LT units going for $300 & up here. Most of those had a front blade & chains.
