As the title states I am trying to figure out what models had a Briggs twin. I know it was mid late 70's. I know the GT16 did but was it the only one or was there a 18 HP model.

Never seen any with a Briggs.  The SS16 had Onan BF twins, and I had a GT18 with the 18hp Onan.

As near as I can figure, that was the only Briggs twin in a Suburban frame. And just that year.
Before that, the twins were only Onan and after that, they weren't the suburban frame

Looks to be a well preserved specimen. Glad you're getting it.
Two things, that series of Briggs wasn't a positive experience for me. They sucked valves (mine was exhaust when hot) and sometimes could be fixed, sometimes not. After repairing it the second time, we sent it packing.
Second, does he have the 8" front tires?

nice catch, those do look like smaller ones.

I think Alan is right ( did I actually type that :poke: )   on the 16HP Briggs was the only one that single year in the Burb's

Nice looking tractor, it does look like someone put 6" front wheels on, I repowered a ST 16 with the 18 hp version of that B&S I really like that opposed twin have dual mufflers on it sounds so nice to me is of course louder.

Thanks guys. I caught the 6 inch tires in the pictures he sent me too and asked if he had a set of 8 inch wheels that I could get,but it was pointless anyway. When his son found out this morning that he was going to trade it,he objected, saying it was his. Since we had already made the deal,he called me,and I told him to let his son keep it. Family is by far more important then rusty old junk ( where have I heard rustyoldjunk before ?),oh well, anyway I didn't get it. BTW it turned out to be a true 18HP. It is a Roper 18T.
