Oh my NJ Buddy, You have chosen a great GT to own in my humble opinion,  and its only because of this great site that I'm able to comment .  I own some very cool GTs , but that one has been on my list for quite sometime, Best of luck in your endeavor

Found one! Just picked it up this morning. How do you tell which year. Seller thinks its a 60 or 61?

you get the yr from the model number on the tag, left side of the gear box.

Checked no attached tag. After 61 are the belt guards different? I have to make one for this. Saw a template online i think off a later model

after 61 a lot of little things are different. the biggest one is the color of the tractor and the square sheet metal hood and square cast grill parts. There are also some holes in different places, some that are new to the model, and the clutch is slightly different. The main idler on the belt is also now spring loaded, instead of being held in place by a single bolt.  Not having a tag isn't the end of the world, but its always nice to know where ones tractor fell into the line up. Post some pictures maybe I can see something that would of been a yr breaker for a model that I cant think of right now.

I got to get a pic of it. Tucked it away for the winter-wont really mess with it til spring. It will give me time to track some missing parts down and get the briggs rebuilt and make a new belt guard. Probably wind up machining/fabricating some stuff too.

Any idea what diameter the outer idler pulley is and what type of spring for the reverse? My manual shows a double. Some photos show a single spring?

Manuals are in the manual section. I have been hunting for one for a while. Grew up using one to push snow and mow grass.
