My Dad turned 55 on June 11 I have been looking for about a year before his birthday for a 1956-1958 Ride a Matic to give him because he always likes the looks of them. I found a very nice 1957 with snow blade and chains in PA early this year.  Rick Show went and picked it up and held it for me.

The plan was for my brother in law and I to go get the tractor hide it at his place till my dad’s birthday.  Then I would sneak my dad’s spare set of keys to his auto repair out of his truck unlock the shop then push the tractor inside with a happy birthday note. Well with the job my brother in law works and Rick show being busy we never could find a weekend to meet up so I could get the tractor before dads Bday.

I instead left a note on my dads shop door with photos of the tractor and a story about the tractor. He showed off the photos to everyone who came into the shop that day. From what I was told by everyone seen them he was a happy guy.

Fast forward to Sept 13 Dad and I headed out to get his Bday tractor making the trip to Rick shows house in a little over 5 hours.  It was good to finally getting to meet Rick he is a great guy to deal with he also let me do some buying well we were there.

When dad and I got home with the tractor we had to take the back tires off because they were full of chloride luckily most of it was in tubes and the rims were not a lost. I blasted the inside of the rims and dad painted the inside and left the outside original. The original tires were also put back on the rims.

Rims and Tires back on dad jumped on it for his first Ride on his Birthday Tractor.

A big thank you goes to Rick Show for all his help.

wilberj, that's a great surprise birthday gift and your dad looks like a kid in a candy store, enjoying the ride. And big props to Rick Show.

What a great Gift!

Looks like your dad really enjoyed the gift too!

That tractor looks to be in great original shape with all its parts still there. Seems like as the years pass its getting harder to find ones that have not been hacked or abused.

May have been the last NOS one left!

Hows the color on that? Looks a bit faded, did it have any sticker on it?
