My gt5000 runs fine but when I let off the clutch the tractor stalls - Does not move

Sounds like you may have a Safety Switch that has gone bad. Either that or the belt may have come off the pulley and is jamming.
If you let the clutch up slow, does it just die at a point like you shut the switch off or does it lug down and stall?
Also, it may help us if we have the model number. They start with 917. and will be on the model / serial tag.

Locked up Idler Pulley? Belt jammed up? Transaxle locked up? Engine only running on 1 cylinder?

 

 

Could be a simple fix or it could be a not so simple fix.

 

I'm betting on a bad belt wrapped up in the pulleys.But I would think that the engine would have enough power to slip and smoke the belt unless it is only running on 1 cylinder.

I'm betting safety switch, too.  A GT5000 is new enough to have a handful scattered across the machine.
