Traded off my 2001 Chevy 2500HD 4wd crew cab Saturday on an '06 Silverado 1500, Z71, 4wd Crew! :D Had been researching for a while, but the weather has been too nasty to even go look. Wife was in the hospital (radiation damage from cancer treatment six years ago). I picked up a newspaper ad in the hosp., saw a "come-on" ad for a $10,000 pickup about 10 miles away. Afternoon Saturday I went to check it, not expecting much, found the '06 instead. Took it for a drive, very clean w/52,000 miles. Salesman made what I thought was a reasonable offer, before we got back to the dealership, he offered to take another $2K off if I bought it that day!

I did call the wife before I wrote the check! :D Then had to go back Monday to take the tool boxes off the '01. Saturday evening & Sunday drive I got "roughly" 50% better gas mileage with the 5.3L than I was getting on the same drive with the 6L.

Wife is home now BTW! ~~ grnspot110

Great deal on the new truck and I am glad to hear the wife is home. The better fuel mileage is an added plus too and it looks like spot likes the new ride also

Nice ride... I see that man's best friend has already made claim to the back seat.

Nice truck, and you'll love the mileage you get. Depending how you use your truck, you might miss the 3/4 ton capacity...I know I did when I got mine. You can't really put a ton in the back of these new half tons for some reason. They pull a trailer really well though, so it's not that bad.
