For sale is my 1974 sears electric lawn mower. The tractor is all original with the built in battery charger under the seat. It does not come with batteries due to the fact I use them in other equipment . I am asking $850 so I can fund my other tractor projects. The tractor is 1 of a little over 500 ever built and only a handful are known to exist.

"917" model number= Roper built.  I didn't know that Roper ever made electrics....

that's weird though as electric cars are just now stating to get attention 40 years later, that they had electric riders that long ago

yeah I know they had plug in electric lowers as long as I can remember

how long can you mow with that machine before the batteries die off and need a recharge?

are they car batteries or Ni Cad or something else?

Buying the proper deep cycle batteries that fit is the key here .Marine batteries do not always have enough capacity or cycling longevity . Also not discharging them fully helps increase lifespan . Mowing time of 30 to 45 minutes could be expected .

With the proper care   a new set of batteries could last 6 to 10 years . This tractor with just  cleaning would be a good parade tractor .

Approximately 50,000 electric riders of various make , sizes, and capacities were built in a time span of 1970 to 1983 . As the seller states, less than 500 Sears ..

This looks to be in good shape, even has the original seat that appears to have no rips in it. 1000km away from me.

They are few and far between that's for sure.

Thanks for posting pictures of it.

I'm with you Doug, that one looks to be in great shape.  It's almost that far for me too.  I hope someone here takes it, it looks great.

Thanks for posting that photograph.  If you can, before you sell it, post a few more photos please.  Some of us here love the electrics.
